CDC COVID-19 UPDATE: DENTAL OFFICES

Special AzDA Update 5/16—OSHA, CDC, and ADA Guidance for Dental Settings Remains Unchanged
Despite the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) recent guidance for COVID-19 fully-vaccinated individuals ((https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated-guidance.html), which only applies to “non-health care settings,” please note that OSHA’s Guidance for Dental Settings (https://www.osha.gov/coronavirus/control-prevention/dentistry), the CDC’s Guidance for Dental Settings (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/dental-settings.html), and the American Dental Association’s (ADA’s) COVID-19 Guidance for Dental Settings, all remain published and unchanged. This dental guidance includes screening everyone (patients, visitors, employees, etc.) entering your dental office, having them wear masks, physically distancing outside of treatment, and taking other COVID-19 precautions, whether or not individuals have been vaccinated.

Of course, as a regulated healthcare industry, different rules, regulations, and protocols apply to dentistry when compared to other non-healthcare settings.  Your Arizona Dental Association will continue to keep members updated as things develop, so be sure to continue checking your weekly AzDA updates, sent to AzDA members the Tuesday and Thursday of each week. Thank you for your membership.
